Fire Force: Shinra Kusakabe’s Demon Form, Explained

Shinra aspired to be a hero from a very young age. His childhood was tainted with suffering, which began after his mother passed away and his younger baby brother disappeared under mysterious circumstances. He was labeled as a “demon” by his peers due to the grin that stuck on his face as a trauma response. Eventually, people blamed him for killing his mother and brother in the fire.

However, Shinra was adamant and pushed through everything. He finally became the symbol of hope and the savior of humanity. With that being said, a demon actually resides within Shinra, which has been mentioned in the manga. This is his most potent form–ShinraBanshoMan, which is capable of mind-bending attributes and incomprehensible powers.

If we talk about appearance, then ShinraBanshoMan closely resembles Shinra Kusakabe. His spiky hair, muscular frame, white pupils, and particularly sharp teeth can be seen. The most prominent feature is his eyes. The pupils are white instead of black, which is terrifying. This form also retains attributes from Sho, such as ash-white hair and eyebrows, along with traits of Mari’s demon Infernal form with his devil horns.

This form is mainly seen without a shirt. However, a dark scarf-like entity that resembles wings can be seen floating around him. A white kanji can be spotted across his body, which reads ShinraBanshoMan. This mark looks like flames, although the three rings around his wrists appear to be permanently part of his body.

To understand the powers of Shinra’s demon form, we have to understand what Adolla is. It can be perceived as a simple alternative reality in Fire Force. It is the inverse of the real world but on a far more complicated plane. Adolla is a higher dimension or such, an abstract place created by the collective unconscious of humanity.

The Evangelist exists because of this abstract idea. An entity who can manipulate the laws of the world, interfering with concepts such as the expansion of the universe its heat. Since they reside within a higher plane of existence compared to the normal universe, they’re not bound by the laws.

Now, Shinra can do all those things, as the antithesis of the Evangelist. His powers arise from his will, which grants him crazy freedom. He can turn the world into anything he wishes. Imagination is the source of his power. He can make anything from dust, according to his desires. It is seen in the manga that Shinra is capable of erasing the entire concept of despair from the world.

Shinra also touched the scale of life and death. He was able to affect the very concept which resulted in people not being capable of dying anymore. This basically diminished the value of death itself.

Adolla is literally the embodiment of a higher place that transcends reality. To understand the entire concept of ShinraBanshoMan, his powers simply break through the mere lws of numbers and mathematics. In a nutshell, Shinra would be capable of manipulating all possibilities, creating and erasing them even.
