On March 12, 2024, the official website of Hiro Mashima and Atsuo Ueda’s Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest manga released a new teaser for the anime. The teaser revealed the upcoming adaptation’s staff, cast, and release date.
Following the success of the original Fairy Tail manga, Ueda launched the sequel of Mashima’s famous work alongside him in 2018. Since then, Kodansha has published 16 book volumes. The latest volume was released in December 2023.

The teaser trailer revealed that the anime adaptation of Mashima and Ueda’s collaborative series will release in July 2024. However, a specific release date has yet to be announced.
The anime will feature a lot of returning cast members. Tetsuya Kakihara, Aya Hirano, Yūichi Nakamura, Sayaka Ōhara, and Satomi Satou reprise their roles as Natsu, Lucy, Gray, Erza, and Wendy, respectively.
Fairy Tail director Shinji Ishihara returns to the show as chief director. Toshinori Watanabe will direct the series at J.C.Staff, while Atsuhiro Tomioka returns to the show as script supervisor. Yurika Sako is in charge of character design, Shōji Hata returns as sound director, while Yasuharu Takanashi handles music.
As for the plot, Kodansha USA Publishing describes the story as follows: “Natsu, Lucy, Happy, Erza, and the whole Fairy Tail Guild are back in action! And they’ve decided to tackle the ‘100 Years Quest’—a job no one’s dared take on since the founding of the guild more than a century ago. A mysterious town, a baffling spirit, a ghastly new enemy…and a brand new continent to explore. When you’re with real friends, the adventures never stop!”
