The Kingdoms of Ruin, also known as Hametsu no Oukoku, is a dark fantasy anime based on the manga by Yoruhashi. Keitaro Motonaga is directing this series, and studio Yokohama Animation Lab is responsible for the production.

The series is set in a world where witches and humans live harmoniously. However, due to scientific advancement, the power of witches could have been more helpful. Rising from resentment and fear, the Redia Empire began hunting witches.

The Kingdoms of Ruin episode 1 recap: What happened to Chloe?

The first episode of The Kingdoms of Ruin shows that the series is a dark fantasy anime. The world is set in such a way that witches were once admired and respected for their strength, but tables have turned now, and the Redia Empire is on a Witch hunt. Adonis is the apprentice of Chloe, the Ice Witch, but witnessing her death at the hands of the King of Redia Empire shakes him up as he vows revenge.

Adonis decides to embark on a journey tearing through the discord between magic and science. With just one goal in his mind: to annihilate the nation that killed his beloved teacher. As the episode was ending, it could be seen that another character, Doroka, who is going to be part of the main cast, was introduced.

The episode ends rather abruptly as she stumbles upon a chamber while running away from the prison guards and ends up releasing Adonis.
