Inu-Oh Blu-ray Release Date & Special Features Revealed

Inu-Oh is finally coming to Blu-ray and DVD. It is the latest film from acclaimed director, Masaaki Yuasa.

GKIDS and Shout Factory have announced the release date of Inu-Oh on major digital platforms and Blu-ray + DVD. The physical release includes new exciting bonus features. As of writing, the Blu-ray + DVD is now available to pre-order on GKIDS and Shout Factory’s respective websites.

“Born to an esteemed family, Inu-oh is afflicted with an ancient curse that has left him on the margins of society. When he meets the blind musician Tomona, a young biwa priest haunted by his past, Inu-oh discovers a captivating ability to dance.” the official synopsis reads. “The pair quickly become inseparable friends as crowds flock to their electric, larger-than-life concerts. But when those in power threaten to break up the band, Inu-oh and Tomona must dance and sing to uncover the truth behind their creative gifts.”

The movie will be available on all major digital platforms by December 20. Meanwhile, the release date for the Inu-Oh Blu-ray + DVD is January 24, 2023. The pre-order price is currently down to $21.99. Bonus features consist of interviews and audio commentary. The physical release also includes an all-new English dub aside from the original Japanese audio. Here is the complete list of special features:

Inu-Oh premiered at the 78th Venice International Film Festival in September 2021 before releasing in Japan in May 2022. The critically-acclaimed film received awards from the Bucheon International Animation Festival and the Fantasia International Film Festival. The main Japanese voice cast includes Avu-chan as Inu-oh and Mirai Moriyama as Tomona. Meanwhile, their English dub counterparts are Joshua Waters and Sena Bryer, respectively. Additionally, Director Masaaki Yuasa (Devilman Crybaby, Ride Your Wave) has received international recognition for many of his other works.
