One Punch Man Season 3 Poster Confirms Anime Return

A third season of the critically acclaimed anime One Punch Man is in the works, as the continuation got an official announcement as well as a brand new visual for its upcoming season.

The news was announced in the latest chapter of the popular manga, with Chikashi Kubota — the character designer for the first two seasons of the anime — showcasing the new artwork. At the moment, no official release date for the third season has been hinted at, but fans will be happy to know it’s on the way.

The latest season of the One Punch Man anime premiered in April 2019, with the series airing various OVAs during its second season as well. The last official OVA came in March 2020, making the gap between season two and the upcoming season three larger than normal.

The worldwide hit manga series was created in 2009 by Japanese artist ONE as a webcomic. In 2012, the comic was published on Shueisha’s Young Jump Next, illustrated by Yusuke Murata along with ONE. Worldwide sales for the series hit over 30 million copies. The English edition was published by VIZ Media in the U.S. in 2015, with the first and second volumes earning a spot on the New York Times manga bestsellers list. The comics were also nominated for an Eisner and a Harvey Award.
