Following Toei Animation’s hack last month, a variety of different programs were postponed as they investigated things. Now, it’s smooth sailing for mega-hit One Piece.

According to a recent announcement from Toei, the 1,014th episode of One Piece is ready to leave port and will premiere on April 17, 2022. The episode will be the first new episode of the series for the anime in six weeks, as Toei looked into what exactly caused the hack, and reevaluated how they should move forward with other productions.
Since the hack, One Piece has been drydocked with reruns and recaps of various arcs, but is ready to return with brand new episodes. With One Piece ready to set sail, the anime can now continue to be one of the most popular series on television and also look ahead to the launch of its next highly anticipated film: the mysterious One Piece Film: Red.

One Piece‘s next film will reportedly focus on the past of Shanks, the leader of the Red Hair Pirates and one of the Four Emperors. Shanks is an important part of the series lore, as he inspired protagonist Monkey D. Luffy to become a pirate and gave him the straw hat that he now wears.
One Piece Film: Red is directed by Goro Taniguchi (Code Geass) with a script written by Kuroiwa Tsutomu. Manga creator Eiichiro Oda will serve as a producer and general supervisor. The film is set to premiere on August 6, 2022.
