Funimation Adding 1,000+ Hours of Anime Subbed and Dubbed in Spanish for Hispanic Heritage Month

To coincide with Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 through October 15, Funimation has announced it’s adding over 1,000 hours of popular anime subbed and dubbed in Spanish. Earlier this year the streaming service started adding Spanish and Portuguese to its catalog, but this is the biggest update seen to the service thus far.

The full list of shows being added hasn’t been made available yet, but in a press release, Funimation highlighted My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba, Attack on Titan, Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist, Wonder Egg Priority, SK8 the Infinity, Higurashi When They Cry, and Akudama Drive. Starting in September, over 1000 episodes will be added with Spanish and Portuguese subs, while over 600 dubbed episodes will be added.

“Growing up watching English dubs of anime, it was rare to see any Latino voice actors in the credits, let alone Latino voice directors,” said Emily Fajardo, the voice of Eua in Higurashi: When They Cry – You. “I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to direct and act in dubs and to help make anime more accessible to people from all different backgrounds.”
