One Piece: What is Shiku Shiku no Mi?

One Piece has been running for quite a long time now. The genius behind this epic series is a man named Eiichiro Oda who graced the anime community with one of the best shonen of all time. It has been continuing for over two decades now. However, there are still plenty of things that we haven’t explored yet. One of the things that is yet to be discovered to its full extent are all the types of Devil Fruits.

Devil Fruits are an amazing source of power in One Piece. Different Devil Fruits grant different powers to the user. For instance, the protagonist of the series, Monkey D. Luffy, has the powers of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. Aside from this outrageously popular and powerful fruit, there are a few underrated ones such as Shiku Shiku no Mi. The mangaka Eiichiro Oda didn’t flesh out this fruit even though its ability can be considered one of the most prominent ones in the series so far.

The Shiku Shiku no Mi grants the power to create diseases that can hinder an opponent. These diseases can form in different forms and can have distinct effects. For example, there is an instance when a man can turn into a woman. These diseases can be contagious, rendering entire groups of enemies useless. The effective range of this power seems quite large as Law and his crew remained affected even after descending far beneath the ocean in their submarine.

Someone with a very powerful Haki can counter or resist this Fruit’s powers. Since it means fighting against an illness, this will result in the user acquiring antibodies to fight the disease. These antibodies can spread as quickly as the disease. Apart from this, the user is also susceptible to the standard Devil Fruit weaknesses.

The Shiku Shiku no Mi is a paramecia-type Devil Fruit used by Doc Q. As mentioned before, this Fruit can inflict enemies with various types of diseases. The manga showed that Doc Q used the Feminization Disease to turn Trafalgar Law into a female.

Even the crew members who came in contact with Law were inflicted with this illness. Trafalgar Law countered this disease by releasing a massive amount of Haki.

Shiku Shiku no Mi is capable of producing contagious diseases. However, it has yet to be revealed what other illnesses this Fruit can inflict upon others. If it can form something as ridiculous as the Feminization Disease then it might be one of the most overpowered Fruits in One Piece.

The effects of this fruit aren’t temporary. It does a lot more damage than it appears. Doc Q believes that even a body that has been cured of a disease retains antibodies, which can allow the infection to spread again. This implies that the Fruit has an independent, somewhat lasting effect. Albeit, Eiichiro Oda has not revealed it.
