Attack on Titan: Eren Jaeger Founding Titan

Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan is among the most successful new-generation shonen. It has sold over 110 million copies of the manga and remains unbeaten! The series’ anime adaptation resulted in the franchise gaining more traction among newer audiences. The story was well accepted as it featured a dystopian future, and fans were captured by the realism each character displayed. Eren Jaeger is one of the protagonists of Attack on Titan and perhaps the series’ most complex character. Fans were quite surprised when his character shifted from a young boy with dreams and ambitions to an anti-hero who understands the reality of their world.

However, considering what he went through since the start of the series, it was understandable to some extent that he turned out to play an undeniable role in his resilient personality. In the final season, he acquired the powers of the Founding Titan. This was nothing less than an absolute god in the world of Attack on Titan.

Eren Jeager has always been a character with a firm sense of purpose since the start of Attack in Titan. However, audiences were quite surprised that Eren was chosen as the Founding Titan. Several questions lingered in their mind as to what makes him special. Eren inherited his Titan power from his father. However, he transformed into a Pure Titan because his father injected him with a Titan Serum.

However, this doesn’t imply that anyone can be doped with the serum. Only those who were the descendants of Ymir had this ability. Jaegers were the test subjects of Ymir. Eren’s pure titan nature is seen from time to time in the series as he needs to consume another human being to obtain the Titan’s power. He acquired the powers of the Attack Titan by consuming his father, Grisha. He became the most powerful Titan in the world by consuming the abilities of both The Attack Titan and The Founding Titan.

Why was Eren’s Founding Titan so distinct compared to Ymir Fritz?

Eren’s Titan form was peculiar enough to send chills down audiences’ spines. As he successfully convinced the soul of Ymir, he gained full access to the ferocious powers. However, the audience was taken aback by the weird appearance of Eren’s Founding Titan. A fun fact is that it is by far one of the largest Titans in the series. His titan form featured distinct skeletal structures, which can only be described as a monstrous spine. The reason behind his anomaly was that Eren had already been decapitated when he gained the powers of the Founding Titan. Through self-preservation, the Founding Titan connected Eren’s head back via the spine.

However, as seen in the series, Eren’s head was quite far from his actual body, resulting in his spine growing uncontrollably. This explains the massive skeletal structure of the Titan. Titans are primarily manifestations of their human versions. However, Eren’s Founding Titan was more monstrous than a humanoid. Due to his severed head, he formed into this strange creature with racks of bone structure that resembles a rib cage attached to a highly long spine.
