CS Video: Anthony Hopkins & Helen Mirren on Hitchcock

Sacha Gervasi’s Hitchcock takes an in-depth look into the life of the famous filmmaker who defined the suspense thriller during the ’50s and ’60s. It focuses specifically on a pivotal time in his life as he was gearing up to make Psycho using his own money since no one else believed in the project. Even his wife Alma Reville, who had been involved with every stage of “Hitch’s” life and career, had her doubts.

While it must have been tough to find an actor who could personify Hitchcock and an actress who could go toe-to-toe with him, you really can’t go wrong when you have actors of the caliber of Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren in your cast. Hopkins loses himself into a role in which you almost forget that he’s wearing a fatsuit and prosthetic make-up that helped turn him into Hitchcock and Mirren’s performance as Alva Reville is equally memorable.

ComingSoon.net had a chance to talk with both Hopkins and Mirren about the movie last week, Hopkins via satellite from London where he’s in the middle of shooting Thor: The Dark World and RED 2, which also stars Mirren, though Hopkins told us they only have one scene together, which they hadn’t shot yet.

We talked to them about the decision to play these characters and what went into preparing for the roles with Hopkins portraying another high-profile figure, as well as what the experience was like working together.
