Valve Will be Shipping New Games Again

Valve Corporation co-founder and president Gabe Newell said that the company is back to making new games during a presentation for Artifact, a card game based on their hit MOBA Dota 2.

“Artifact is the first of several games that are going to be coming from us. So that’s sort of good news. Hooray! Valve’s going to start shipping games again.”

It’s important to note that Newell said gamesso that should mean Valve will be shipping something after Artifact. Newell did confirm back in January 2017 during his Reddit AMA that the company is working on fully-fledged single-player games. He followed this up in a round-table interview with the media in February that Valve does have multiple games in development, with three of them being VR titles.

There’s no concrete evidence from the presentation that Valve is working on anything else besides the aforementioned VR games and Artifact, but it’s still great to hear that a company with a storied history in game development seems to be back to doing what first made it such a beloved figure in the industry.

The last original game Valve released was Dota 2 back in 2013. The company is responsible for some of the most influential video games such as Half-LifeCounter-Strike and Portal. They are also in charge of Steam, the biggest digital distribution platform on the PC dedicated to video games.
