Synopsis:

This is the complete second season of Magnum P.I. which ran on CBS in 1981. The following is from the DVD cover:

“Buckle up for more action-packed adventure with all 22 Second Season episodes of the Emmy Award-winning, smash-hit series, Magnum P.I. Tom Selleck is television’s most charismatic detective, and he’s back in his slick Ferrari cruising the streets of tropical Hawaii. Beautiful girls, hot cars, and of course Higgins, T.C. and Rick are all here in this sizzling set that’s loaded with unforgettable guest stars, including Mimi Rogers, Dick Butkus, Pat Morita and Jill St. John. Available on DVD for the first time ever, Magnum P.I.: The Complete Second Season is a must-own for thrill-seekers everywhere!”

The Series:

I wouldn’t really recommend buying “Magnum P.I. – The Complete Second Season” unless you own the first season set. This DVD is really more of the same from the first. The second season has all the Magnum, Hawaii, and sleuthing that you know and love. They didn’t depart from the formula from the previous season.

Notable cameos this time around include Pat Morita, Dick Butkus, Tyne Daly, Mimi Rogers, Joanna Kerns, and Jill St. John.

The Extras:

The bonus features included this time around are episodes of The A-Team and Knight Rider. They’re good for a taste of a little something different, but I still would have liked to have seen some Magnum related extras.

The Bottom Line:

If you own the Complete First Season of Magnum P.I., then you already know if the second season is worth picking up. If you don’t own it, you’ll probably want to pick that set up before buying this one.
