Darren Aronofsky on His Noah’s Ark Project

As revealed earlier this month, Darren Aronofsky has his sights set on adapting the biblical tale of Noah and his Ark for his next feature project. Today IFC News caught up with the Black Swan director at the 2011 Provincetown International Film Festival where he dropped a few details about the potential film.

“I want to make a big event film,” said Aronofsky, “and I think it can be that.”

Earlier reports had suggested that Aronofsky is looking for funding and a budget of approximately $130 million.

“I don’t think it’s a very religious story,” he added,“I think it’s a great fable that’s part of so many different religions and spiritual practices. I just think it’s a great story that’s never been on film.”

No comment was given regarding rumors that Aronofsky is looking at casting Christian Bale in the lead.
