Exclusive Video Interview: Mark Ruffalo on The Avengers

Mark Ruffalo is set to make his directing debut with April 29th’s Sympathy for Delicious. Written by and starring Christopher Thornton, Ruffalo’s longtime friend, the film tells the story of a recently paralyzed DJ who winds up becoming an unlikely faith healer.

Ruffalo and Thornton (who is disabled in real life) spoke with ComingSoon.net about the project and, while we’ll be running the full video interviews closer to the film’s release, have available now the video of Ruffalo discussing his next project, Joss Whedon’s The Avengers.

“I’ve been working a lot with Joss Whedon on the script,” Ruffalo says, “It’s coming along. It’s going to be my crack at the green behemoth. It’s like my generation’s Hamlet. We’re all going to get a shot at him.”

Thornton, meanwhile, is developing an action screenplay featuring a hero in a wheelchair. It sounds like, if Whedon needs a Rick Jones, he knows where to look.

Check out the video below to hear Ruffalo say, “Don’t make me angry…” and catch Sympathy for Delicious in theaters on April 29th.
