CW Passes on Tales From the Darkside

We may not be hearing any more Tales from the Darkside. The 80s anthology series was set to be revitalized by the CW, with a pilot written by Joe Hill, but Deadline reports the network has passed. It seems the growing popularity of the anthology format on television, and strong word on the episode, was not enough to sway.

Deadline reports Tales “had been getting traction with a well-executed pilot, but its anthology format was a source of uncertainty about how a full season would look, and the project was in need of a showrunner.”

Recently, author and screenwriter Joe Hill took to Twitter, expressing ultimate enthusiasm for what he had seen of the pilot. Kris Lemche had been cast as the lone recurring character on the series, a project many horror fans have been anticipating.

In 2011, Joe Hill’s acclaimed comic Locke & Key was also adapted to pilot, but failed to materialize into a series. Here’s hoping, like Locke & Key, we at least get to see what this Tales from the Darkside could’ve been.
