Double Take Releasing Night of the Living Dead-inspired Comics

Publisher Double Take has announced a series of comics set within the 1968 universe of George Romero’s seminal Night of the Living Dead. Beginning this June, six separate books will launch, some expanding the world of the film, others following characters from it, all with the intent of introducing new writers-artists and crafting alternate takes on the classic.

As we all well know, Night of the Living Dead is in the public domain, opening it up to distribution, remixes, revamps and re-adaptation. Double Take’s series is the latest in a long line of using NOTLD as a launch pad. Here, they’re calling it Ultimate Night of the Living Dead. The company writes, “DoubleTake develops and publishes stories by creative teams of new writers and artists. Our starting point for these stories is the classic 1968 horror film Night of the Living Dead. For fans of the film, RiseHonor and Soul are stories that follow our favorite characters like Johnny and Barbara, but with new surprises. SpringZ-Men and Home are original stories set in that film’s universe.”

Out in June are HomeRise and Z-Men, the latter two penned by writer Jeff McComsey, the first by by Peter Aguero. Find synopses and details and covers, below.
