Based on the 2003 supernatural novel
Screen Daily confirms Sommers is adapting the Koontz novel, writing and directing the feature film adaptation for producers Howard Kaplan and John Baldecchi.
According to Production Weekly, Stephen Sommers (Van Helsing, G.I.Joe) is going to tackle an adaptation of the Dean Koontz novel “Odd Thomas” as well.
Published in 2003 and the first in a string of novels, “Odd Thomas” follows the eponymous character and his supernatural abilities. Book one finds Odd working in a diner until he meets an unusual character dubbed the “Fungus Man” who he is convinced is up to no good and will unleash a sinister force in a small California town.
Along the way, the book explores Odd’s powers and readers find Odd being accompanied by the ghost of Elvis and other beings.

Besides being fodder for Family Guy jokes, Koontz’s work has appeared on screen in Dean Koontz’s Frankenstein, Watchers and Hideaway.
