Years in the Making: Dark Lurking Finally Comes Home

The Australian monster mash

Greg Connors’ Australian genre mash-up, The Dark Lurking, is coming to DVD on October 12.

Production began in 2006 and Connors has been tinkering away at the film since then with shooting taking place as financing came in. Connors told us in 2008 shortly after a trailer debut, “[‘Dark Lurking’] is a big time nod to all the cool movies from the 80’s before CG turned movie monsters gay. Aliens, John Carpenter’s The Thing, Predator, Pumpkinhead and even Robocop. Honestly, who’s made a cool horror/sci-fi movie in a while? Fox killed the Aliens and Predator franchises so we decided to make something new that people could enjoy and would give the same feel from a monster movie that seems to be lacking these days.”

Cinema Epoch picked up the film for U.S. distribution. Get a peek at the cover art right here. Trailer and synopsis below:

Something has gone terribly wrong at Outpost 30, a secret international research facility some five hundred meters beneath the snow blown arctic wilderness. All communications are gone, all means of escape destroyed and an extremely dangerous horde of ancient creatures is on the loose after a doorway to an unspeakable evil has been unleashed. Eight survivors, two former research patients, three SOCOM Troops, two research technicians and a cleaner barricade themselves inside a remote area of the facility with little food, almost no ammunition and little hope of rescue. Their one possible escape route is through thirteen levels of terror that will lead them to the surface. And one of them is not who they seem to be, the darkness itself which has taken human form.
