Columbia Takes to Substitute Remake

Co-produced by Ghost House

Breathe easy. We’re not talking about the Tom Berenger film.

Columbia Pictures will team with Ghost House to remake Ole Bornedal’s The Substitute. The original film is being released next month under Lionsgate’s Ghost House Underground label.

The Substitute centers on a sixth-grade class and its substitute teacher who turns out to be an alien.

Bornedal also directed 1994’s Nightwatch. That thriller was picked up by Dimension Films and Bornedal directed the American redo in ’97. It’s unknown if Ghost House/Columbia will tap him to do the new Substitute.
