Snow on Prom Night 2 Possibilites

Actress cooks up her own plot

In 1987, Norstar Releasing ushered into theaters Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II, the hokey but strangely enjoyable sequel to the Jamie Lee Curtis-starring Prom Night released seven years earlier.

Screen Gems’ suits no doubt smiled about the $52 million worldwide box office take their Prom Night remake enjoyed. In it, Brittany Snow played Donna, a young lass stalked by the baseball cap-wearing creepy pervo Richard Fenton (Johnathan Schaech). The redux ended rather definitively, but money talks – so will history repeat itself with a sequel looming on the horizon?

Shock crossed paths with Snow who candidly dashed any ideas of a follow-up starring her character – beware of spoilers ahead! “Gosh, if any more people die around that girl, something bad is going to happen,” she laughed. “By the end of the movie, I don’t even know what to do with this. Everybody has died…which is really sad that I’ve just told that to everybody who hasn’t seen the movie, but I survive. It was a running inside joke with everybody on set that we were going to have Prom Night 2: Dance of the Dead and everybody who died is going to come back as zombies and we’re going to have a zombie dance. We ended up dancing on set and we had that all planned out. [Director] Nelson McCormick wasn’t big on the idea but I think we’re going to make it happen.”

Seriously, though, Snow said she has not been approached to return. “I don’t think there could be a Prom Night 2 just because everyone’s dead and 2, there’s no prom to be had. But look for ‘Dance of the Dead’ on DVD coming soon, it’ll be a really big hit.” But, Brittany, there is a real film using that moniker coming soon. “Really? Well, crap…they stole my idea somehow.”

Don’t rule out sequel possibilities just yet, lil’ Brit, there is always direct-to-DVD. Although, Hello Richard Fenton: Prom Night II doesn’t quite have the same ring to it…
