Paramount, Dreamworks Ditching HD-DVD

Sweeney Todd DVD plans altered

So long, HD-DVD.

Beginning next week, Paramount and Dreamworks are officially kicking the format like a crack habit. According to Video Business, the final HD-DVD titles to seep out from the studio will be Into the Wild and Things We Lost in the Fire. That means no HD Sweeney Todd (as previously announced); only a standard/collector’s edition will hit the streets on April 1st.

Paramount/Dreamworks made the decision after Toshiba announced its decision to stop marketing HD-DVD hardware. There’s no word yet on what their first Blu-Ray title will be.
