Crank Duo Ride With Jonah Hex

Based on the DC comic book

We may not see another Constantine in the immediate future, but another cult-ish DC comic book character is getting a film vehicle of his own.

Warner Bros. has given the greenlight on a live-action incarnation of Jonah Hex. Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor of Crank will write and direct Hex’s big screen ride which combines western and supernatural elements.

Recognizable by his grotesque facial scar and Confederate army uniform, Hex was a gunslinger introduced to the DC universe in the early-’70s. Most of his adventures were straight-up action until horror-ish elements were introduced by author Joe R. Lansdale (Bubba Ho-Tep) who worked Hex over in the ’90s with a mini-series.

It’s unknown if Neveldine and Taylor – who recently penned Pathology – are adhering to any set story arc. Both will be in attendance at Comic-Con this week, so we’ll bring you the latest as it hits us.
