Broad City renewed for 4th and 5th Seasons

Comedy Central has renewed the critically-acclaimed scripted series “Broad City” for a fourth and a fifth season, it was announced today by Kent Alterman, President, Original Programming, Comedy Central. The third season is set to premiere 10 all-new episodes beginning on Wednesday, February 17 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Created by Jacobson and Glazer, who executive produce along with Paper Kite Productions’ Amy Poehler and Brooke Posch, 3 Arts’ Dave Becky and Jax Media’s Tony Hernandez and Lilly Burns, and co-executive produced by Eric Slovin, Lucia Aniello and Paul Downs, the second season run of “Broad City” was the #1 show in cable in its timeslot with Men 18-34. The series was listed in the Top 10 Nielsen Twitter TV Ratings each week and the multiplatform viewing increased ten-fold for season two.

Courtesy of the collective brains of and starring Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, “Broad City” is an odd couple comedy about two best friends navigating their twenties in New York City whose adventures always lead down unexpected and outlandish paths. They’re broke, flawed and don’t shy away from the sticky situations NYC throws at them – they dive right into the muck. But no matter how bad it gets, these young broads are always down with whatever hits them.

Joining Jacobson and Glazer as series regulars are Hannibal Buress, Arturo Castro, Paul Downs, John Gemberling and Chris Gethard. Guest stars during the second season included Bob Balaban, Aidy Bryant, Patricia Clarkson, Susie Essman, Janeane Garofalo, Kumail Nanjiani, Kelly Ripa, Seth Rogen, Amy Ryan, Alia Shawkat and David Wain.

Time Traveling Bong greenlit

Comedy Central’s latest series is ahead of its time, literally. The #1 brand in comedy has greenlit “Time Traveling Bong,” it was announced today by Kent Alterman, President, Original Programming, Comedy Central. From the minds of “Broad City’s” Ilana Glazer, Paul W. Downs and Lucia Aniello, the three-episode limited series takes viewers on a wild ride through an otherworldly experience and is set to premiere on April 20, 2016, following the season three finale of “Broad City.”

“No comment,” added Glazer, Downs and Aniello.

“Time Traveling Bong” centers on two cousins, played by Glazer and Downs, who discover a time traveling bong and ride high as they blaze through time. Their buzz is killed when the bong breaks and the cousins are forced to bounce around the space time continuum, learning to appreciate there’s no time like the present. “Time Traveling Bong” will roll out across three consecutive nights, beginning on 4/20 at 10:30 p.m. This limited series is executive produced and written by “Broad City’s” Ilana Glazer, Paul W. Downs and Lucia Aniello, who is also set to direct, and executive produced by Dave Becky of 3 Arts Entertainment and Sam Reich. Sarah Babineau and Samantha Schles are the Executives in Charge of Production for Comedy Central.
