George Lucas Joins Rest of World, Watches New ‘Star Wars’ Teaser

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, it was reported after the Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens teaser dropped that father of the franchise George Lucas still hadn’t seen the darn thing. But all that has now changed, as The Hollywood Reporter says today that Lucas has, in fact, joined the rest of society in watching the teaser for the hotly-anticipated new franchise installment. And what did he have to say about it? In truth, not much.

“Yeah, it was intriguing,” Lucas said with a smile when asked about the trailer at a screening of Lucasfilm‘s upcoming animated tale Strange Magic, which Lucas executive produced and helped write. Yep, sorry guys, it appears that’s all we’re going to get for now.

There is no word yet on whether Lucas plans to dive into the editing room to retouch the teaser sometime down the road, but heated debate surrounding the practicality of the crossguard lightsaber seen in the teaser tells me we might see a new Lucas-approved cut sooner rather than later. People take the feasibility of their sci-fi/fantasy weapons very seriously, as you can see from the video below, in which one Star Wars fan takes to YouTube to demonstrate how a crossguard lightsaber might work in the real world, just to prove the doubters wrong.
