2013 AFI Fest Adds ‘Out of the Furnace’ and ‘Nebraska’ after ‘Foxcatcher’ Fallout

Bennett Miller‘s Foxcatcher was originally going to play the 2013 AFI Festival until the announcement came down Sony Classics was going to push the film into 2014. Saving Mr. Banks will still open the festival with Joel and Ethan Coen‘s Inside Llewyn Davis serving as the closing night film. Now the rest of the fest is coming together following the shake-up.

To begin, Crazy Heart director, Scott Cooper will bring his latest film, Out of the Furnace to the fest, serving as the film’s world premiere before it plays the Rome Film Festival. Additionally, the two other Centerpiece Gala screenings will be Ben Stiller‘s The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Alexander Payne‘s Nebraska, the latter will be accompanied by a Tribute to the film’s star, Bruce Dern.

The 2013 AFI Festival takes place November 7-14, 2013.
