David Fincher’s Nike Crew Commercial

People will probably argue with me saying how pivotal this scene was to The Social Network and how this loss is what drove the Winklevoss twins to sue Mark Zuckerburg, shedding the “We’re gentlemen of Harvard and Harvard gentlemen don’t sue” persona. I mention this only because I’m sure the comment section would be loaded with “you don’t get it” sentiments had I not.

It’s a very well made scene, but I just found it to be more of a commercial break than anything else. It felt out of place and made for a speed bump in the narrative. But that’s just me.

For those interested, the song is “In the Hall of the Mountain King” and just below the image I included the full Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross version from The Social Network soundtrack.
