Ironically I was talking with a fella today that had already decided everyone he felt should be cast for the upcoming G.I. Joe feature, which Stephen Sommers is set to direct for a Summer 2009 release. Then, tonight, IESB receives word that Stuart Beattie has finished his script and the details are in.
- The Joes will be based in the United States, not abroad as was previously reported.
- A Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow story arch will be a central portion of the story.
- Destro, the Baroness and Cobra will be the villains with Cobra Commander taking a backseat ominous role with Destro and Baroness being more hands on.
- The best news out of all of it is that Cobra will be hiring Zartan and his Dreadnoks as the villainous muscle for the movie. Along with Tomax and Xamot, Zartan and his clan including Zarana and Zandar are the best part of the villain core.
Now, for casting. Who do you think should fall in line?
What do you think about Sean Bean as Zartan; Karl Urban as both Tomax and Xamot; Gary Oldman as Cobra Commander; Ray Park as Snake Eyes; Jennifer Garner as Scarlett; Hugo Weaving as Destro; Jet Li as Storm Shadow? Tell yah what, if they were to get that line up for this pic and satisfy on a script level G.I. Joe may be one of the best movies ever. Yup, EVER! Ahhh snap, you’ve been pwned!
