Larry the Cable Guy’s Name is Dan Whitney

When I first saw the headline “Cable Guy hooked up to ‘Protection'” at The Hollywood Reporter I initially thought it might be a clever little way of saying Jim Carrey was hooking back up with The Cable Guy helmer, one Ben Stiller. Too bad, instead it is about that idiot Larry the Cable Guy, who is referred to by his real name in the article, Dan Whitney. Is this guy’s career to the point now that we actually need to know his real name? No, I don’t think so and actually that is the only reason I even decided to write this article.

The actual “news” here tells us that ol’ Larry is set to star in Witless Protection, a comedy Charles Carner is directing from his own screenplay.

The story centers on a small-town sheriff who witnesses what he believes is a kidnapping and rushes to rescue a woman. The kidnappers turn out to be FBI agents assigned to protect her and deliver her to a big Enron-type corruption trial in Chicago but are later found to be on the take and are villains who are bent on killing her.

Cable Guy’s first film actually pulled in $15 million, which is actually A LOT more than I thought it would be before I checked, but let’s face it… I don’t know of anyone outside the red states clammoring for another film from this moron.
