Hey looky here, it is time for another DVD DOWNLOAD and once again we are coming with all the DVD goodness you can handle for one week. To be honest with you that is all the intro I have the energy for and you are probably thankful for that. So let’s get started.

THE LATEST DVDS
Date Movie (Unrated Edition)

May 30th

Date Movie Unrated. Yup, there is a large group of people out there waiting for this one considering this bad boy made just over $47 million at the box-office. Then again, maybe you are waiting for this one on DVD seeing how not many of you rushed off to the theaters. Either way, you are going to have your choice between the Rated and Unrated version of this film and I do have one question to ask, “Who is buying the rated versions anymore?” Even if a film has only an additional 30 seconds of footage added to it, aren’t most people buying the unrated editions? In case you were wondering this unrated version has an additional 3 minutes of idiocy… Now go bang your head against a wall!

The Terminator (Blu-ray Disc)

June 13th

Yeah, I didn’t have this one in the database yet, but along with the announcement of the Terminator Blu-ray Disc hitting streets on June 13th Sony also announced the following titles:

I should also mention that all of these are hitting shelves way in advance of any hardware being available to play them on. Yeah, explain that one to me.

Final Destination 3

July 25th

I liked this movie as pure popcorn fun, but I still think FD2 was the best followed by FD3 then FD and if you are a fan of the series as much as I am and haven’t yet purchased any of the DVDs on July 25th you will also have the opportunity to purchase the Final Destination “Thrill-ogy” instead of just this one movie. Oh boy!

Forty Shades of Blue

Uh, yeah… I don’t really have anything to say for this one. Usually I don’t take the time to pop certain films into the database because – well – because I am the only one doing it, but I through this one in when it took top dramatic honors at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. So, I am guessing there is something good about it. Maybe someone out there can enlighten me…

Hoodwinked

May 2nd

The Weinstein’s first attempt at a CGI animated feature actually went over quite well with many critics even resident reviewer Laremy Legel [review here]. I still have not caught the pic, but I will be sure to do so on DVD. I have already been told it is a movie I should enjoy.

Bloodrayne (Rated and Unrated Director’s Cut)

May 23rd

Hmmmmmmm, I wonder if the Unrated edition shows even more Kristanna Loken nude goodness? Honestly, isn’t that the reason people are going to see this pile of trash? Then again, I haven’t seen it so maybe there is something good here, but the fact that it was screened on a limited basis and pulled in only $2.4 million at the box-office leads me to believe that this is just one more in the Uwe Boll disaster column.

The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things

June 6th

Good Lord! No sooner than I am adding this film to the database and it is hitting theaters am I adding it to the DVD database. The only thing that interests me about this pic is that sexy lady Asia Argento directed it and stars in it. On top of that it is rated R and Asia has been known to flash the happy hats on occasion. This is in no way meant to belittle the possibility that this is a good film, I am just trying to find some initial motivation.

Pure

July 18th

Yup, that is Keira Knightley in that pic above and guess what… This bad boy made a whopping $102,471 at the domestic box-office. This is not to say that it is a bad picture, after all it probably showed on one screen in New York for a weekend. On top of that it was originally screened way back in 2002 at the Toronto Film Festival. Obviously it must not be a great picture, but if you want to check out an early flick from Miss Knightley this may be one to pick up.

The World’s Fastest Indian

June 13th

Yet again, another film I heard good things about and did not get a chance to see. Actually, I take that back, I did have a chance to see it but it didn’t fit my schedule and I wasn’t moving things around. Anyway, I did hear that Hopkins is great in this movie and if my schedule permits I may be trying to preview this one on DVD.

The Matador

July 4th

Now this one looks interesting and stupid at the same time. Reviews were moderate on this one, but some people really enjoyed it. I don’t see myself beating down doors to get a screener, but I am sure it will be one I check out toward the July 4th holiday.

Munich (Single and 2-Disc Editions)

May 9th

And the winner of the best DVD artwork of the week goes to Munich, but this film still remains one movie I don’t see what all the fuss is about. Granted, it is an okay film and it has some extremely tense moments, but on a whole I found it misguided and unsure of itself. Especially with the text on screen during the final moments of the film. Come on Steven! Make up your mind here! What do you believe, don’t go trying to leave it up in the air!
SPECIAL FEATURES
Running Time: 2 hrs. 44 mins.

· Introduction by director Steven Spielberg

· Seven part behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of Munich and the events that inspired the film.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith (Unrated Edition)

June 6th

Just when you thought Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were going to adopt five more kids and fade off into the sunset Fox announces the release of the Unrated edition of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. I actually do want to preview this one, but only because my screener copy of the original version had an ugly watermark on it and I HATE THAT SHIT!

The Omen (Collector’s Edition)

June 20th

Who didn’t know this was coming? On top of that, who wouldn’t mind adding this to their collection? I thought so. I am interested in checking out the special features on this bad boy and I can only hope they are better than the special features that were included in MGM’s re-release of the Amityville Horror DVDs. Now that was upsetting.

Green Street Hooligans

June 13th

I wanted to see this movie, but here in Seattle we get some really unfortunate screening times for those with busy schedules so I missed it. Boo hoo… yeah. Anyway, I didn’t really hear any good word on this, it just looks interesting and I have to wonder if Elijah can pull off the tough guy bit.

Imagine Me and You

June 27th

Meh… blah… Not a whole lot to say here as this one doesn’t interest me in the slightest, but just perhaps one of you out there is interested in a story about a girl who falls in love on her wedding day…but not with the man of honor. Heck (Matthew Goode) and Rachel (Piper Perabo) are a happy young couple about to embark on life together. But at the church, Rachel catches the eye of an unexpected guest. In that moment, she realizes that maybe Heck isn’t the one for her. Of course, they will never know for sure unless they give it a shot. What follows is the romantic, humorous and sometimes poignant journey familiar to anyone who’s ever been lucky (or unlucky) enough to be under love’s spell.
