Synopsis:

The following is from the official DVD description:

“Bizarro… and beyond.

There are two Clark Kents. One is the young man whose life in a tiny Kansas town sets him on destiny’s path. The other is a Bizarro who shares Clark’s DNA but not his values. Only one of them can survive.

Superman mythology grows deeper and more powerful in an event-packed season that includes the arrival of Clark’s cousin Kara/Supergirl. Keep a low profile and master your powers, Clarks says. Kara has other ideas. Plus: Lana Lang might prefer Bizarro to the real deal. Lois Lane makes a career leap. Chloe Sullivan finds that balancing a meteor power with a personal life isn’t easy. And Lex Luthor’s power – lust has a new fixation – Kara. New characters and complications. New secrets and lore. New thrills and special effects. Power up to Season 7!

Mini-Review:

“Smallville” continues yet another season! When the series first started, the mantra was “no flights, no tights.” It seemed to be an effort to distance the show from the comics and keep it somewhat reality based. However, as the series has progressed, they seem to get closer and closer to the comics in an effort to attract viewers. Appearances by Martian Manhunter, Bizarro, Brainiac, and Black Canary are evidence of that. And, most noteworthy, is the addition of Laura Vandervoort to the cast as Supergirl. (Was there a shortage of hot girls in the cast?) She’s an interesting addition as she brings a little Kryptonian history to Clark as well as a little family tension. The fact that she was originally older than baby Kal-El when they left Krypton throws an interesting dynamic into the relationship. The series also continues its super-guest starring roles. Former Superman Dean Cain appears as an evil doctor. Terence Stamp returns as Jor-El. Marc McClure, a former Jimmy Olsen, returns as Dax-Ur in one episode. The cameos go on from there.

There’s a pretty good selection of extras included on the DVD. You’ll find a featurette on the history of Supergirl. It covers everything from the comics to the movies. Look for interviews with Helen Slater, Gail Simone, and other comics talents you’ll be familiar with. In another featurette you’ll find an interview with four actors who have played Jimmy Olsen – Jack Larson, Marc McClure, Aaron Ashmore, and Sam Huntington. It’s a fun look back on their careers and the character. “Kara and the Chronicles of Krypton” are a series of animated shorts telling how Supergirl came to arrive on Earth. “Smallville: Visions” is an online Smallville comic book. You’ll also find the usual deleted scenes and commentaries.
