D23 Interviews: The Gigantic Filmmakers on the 2018 Release

Interview with the creators of Gigantic

A new big Disney animated film was revealed to the massive crowd at Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, CA on Friday. Gigantic, a film based on Jack and the Beanstalk, will join the ranks of the Disney animated classics.

The 2018 release is described this way: “Set in Spain during the Age of Exploration, Disney’s Gigantic follows adventure-seeker Jack as he discovers a world of giants hidden within the clouds. He haches a grand plan with a 60-foot-tall, 11-year-old girl, and agrees to help her find her way home. But he doesn’t account for her super-sized personality – and who knew giants were so down to earth?” Songwriting team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Bobby Lopez who were responsible for the score for Frozen are taking on Gigantic as well, so expect catchy songs. Hey, they are the duo who gave us “Let It Go.”

ComingSoon.net talked with director Nathan Greno (Bolt, Tangled, Frozen) and producer Dorothy McKim (Get a Horse) about what’s in store for audiences. They told us they’re still in the early stages, but that the young giantess was inspired by a real-life girl they met. We also learned a bit about where they are in the process.

Check out the interview below and let us know if this sounds like something you want to see. Stay tuned to ComingSoon.net’s D23 Expo Hub for more news and information from the event.
