Avengers: Doomsday Fans Are Saying the Same Thing About Steve Rogers’ New Look

One Avengers: Doomsday detail has fans divided, and they’re not holding back. New ensemble artwork for the film sparked strong reactions from users who all noticed the same thing about Steve Rogers’ appearance.

Steve Rogers’ lack of costume draws reactions from Avengers: Doomsday fans

New artwork for Avengers: Doomsday revealed at the Bilibili World expo in Shanghai sparked fan reactions on social media. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige unveiled the ensemble piece by former Visual Development Director Andy Park during a presentation. The art shows Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers wearing casual clothing and sporting long hair and a beard.

Rogers appears without a Captain America suit in the artwork, instead wielding Mjolnir in plain attire. His look mirrors the style he had in Avengers: Infinity War rather than any traditional superhero costume. The character’s casual appearance stands out among the heavily costumed ensemble cast.

Users quickly took notice of Rogers’ lack of a uniform in the promotional art. One user quoted Rogers’ line from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where he says, “No, if you’re gonna fight a war, you got to wear a uniform.”

Another user expressed appreciation that Rogers does not wear a Captain America suit but wanted something more distinctive. “The t-shirt just makes him look like A Guy,” the user wrote. That post garnered over 386,000 views on X.

Other users joined the conversation with their own takes on the costume choice. One user asked whether they were alone in thinking the lack of a costume was a poor decision.

Another user shared a video joking about explaining the wardrobe choice in the writers’ room. In the clip, the user humorously claims Rogers does not need a suit because he has the Venom symbiote suit on.

Park shared the artwork on social media alongside a personal statement about his time at Marvel. “It was truly an honor,” he says, “and I was grateful to commemorate that journey with this marketing illustration which officially reveals, for the first time, the characters and their looks in the film.”

Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters on December 18.
