Capcom’s highly anticipated Onimusha: Way of the Sword is releasing earlier
Onimusha: Way of the Sword has seen its release date shifted up. Now, the game will release on September 4, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store. The new release date is about three weeks ahead of its old one, as the game was formerly set to release on September 25, 2026.
Pre-orders for Way of the Sword are available now, and players who pick up either the Standard, Deluxe, or Premium Deluxe editions of the game before September 24 will receive Early Adopter bonuses as rewards. A demo for the game is also out now on all platforms, allowing players to jump into the action and experience some of the new combat mechanics Capcom has implemented into the game.
Way of the Sword is the latest entry in the iconic Onimusha series, and the first in 20 years. The new game returns to the world of a dark fantasy Japan, where samurai face off against the supernatural. The story of the game follows Miyamoto Musashi, a samurai armed with the mystical OniGauntlet, who must battle demons invading Edo-period Kyoto.
