A new TV spot for Spider-Man: Brand New Day has fans comparing it to Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man films. The comparisons come as the MCU film gears up for its theatrical release later this month.
What do we see in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day video?
The TV spot offers glimpses of Peter Parker encountering members of the Hand and the Hulk, convincing MJ to leave with him, and attending a Spider-Man parade. It is this snippet that has fans comparing it to Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 3, as the 2007 film has a similar scene. In it, New York City throws a parade in light of Spider-Man Day, which Peter Parker attends both as himself and later as his crime-fighting alter ego.
Fans were quick to notice the similarities between the scene in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the one in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3, as a comment read, “God, this just makes me think of spider-man 3 i love it.” Another fan, hit by nostalgia, wrote, “dejavu.” Similar thoughts recurred, as yet another comment read, “These rami references are spectacular.”
The synopsis of the film reads, “It’s a BRAND NEW DAY for Peter Parker. Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him—and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him—sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control. But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves—a powerful villain no one can even see.”
Destin Daniel Cretton serves as the director of the upcoming Spider-Man film. Tom Holland returns as the web-slinger in his fourth standalone MCU movie. He is joined by Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Mark Ruffalo, Jon Bernthal, and more. Sadie Sink is also part of the cast in an undisclosed role.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is slated to release in theaters on July 31, 2026.
