The Prime Video debut of Project Hail Mary is right around the corner. The announcement comes less than a month after the blockbuster sci-fi film became available exclusively to MGM+ subscribers.
When is Project Hail Mary’s Prime Video streaming release date?
Before arriving on MGM+, the film was available as a Premium Video on Demand (PVOD) title on Apple TV, Prime Video, and other digital platforms during its post-theatrical release window. Now, Project Hail Mary will begin streaming on Prime Video on July 3, 2026.
Ryan Gosling-led film will be available to all Prime Video subscribers at no additional cost. This marks the end of the film’s exclusivity window on PVOD and MGM+.
Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street, The Lego Movie), the film is based on the 2021 Andy Weir novel of the same name. Made on a budget of $248 million, Project Hail Mary grossed $683.5 million worldwide, becoming the fourth-highest-grossing film of the year. The film also stars Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, and Milana Vayntrub.
The official synopsis of Project Hail Mary reads, “Science teacher Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) wakes up on a spaceship light-years from home with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his memory returns, he begins to uncover his mission: solve the riddle of the mysterious substance causing the sun to die out. He must call on his scientific knowledge and unorthodox ideas to save everything on Earth from extinction…but an unexpected friendship means he may not have to do it alone.”
Following its digital release, the film will also receive physical releases on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD beginning August 11, 2026. A special three-disc SteelBook gift set is scheduled to release on October 13, 2026.
