Josh Peck, the star of Drake & Josh, revealed that he made a huge amount of money from the Nickelodeon show. However, during the four-year stint on the series, a lot of that money was also exhausted between “agent, manager, and taxes,” as per the sitcom star.
Josh Peck reveals his Drake & Josh salary with a twist
Josh Peck, now 39 years old, got candid about how much money he made as the star of Drake & Josh, one of the most famous sitcoms from Nickelodeon. Peck shed light on his earnings during a recent appearance on the Financial Tea with Mrs. Dow Jones podcast.
“We started out making $3,000 an episode on The Amanda Show,” Peck said. He worked on the Nickelodeon series from 2000 to 2002 before his time on Drake & Josh. Peck continued, “And then by the time we finished Drake & Josh—so that was 60 episodes total for the whole show—the median rate, the average rate per episode was about $15,000. So over four years, we wound up making about 900 grand.”
Peck emphasized that he and his fellow castmates, which included star Amanda Bynes and Drake Bell, were working very hard at the time, but were not taking home this entire amount. While it looks huge on paper, it seems that Peck did not get to keep a lot of it. “We probably, between agent, manager and taxes,” he revealed, “we cleared half of that.”
Peck broke down his take-home pay over the nearly four years and realized that he still made good money, but it was not life-changing. “We were making about $125,000 a year. And people always will say, ‘Well, compared to so many other tougher jobs, like who are you to say anything?’ And I go, ‘I’m not,’” he continued.
“The only reason I say it is because people always assume that it’s so much more and why would you ever have to work again? But of course, if you made the salary of a dentist or something like that, you couldn’t just stop working after four years.”
Peck also shed light on the financial struggles that followed his famous role during this podcast appearance.
