Another Love Island USA Season 8 Star Removed Over N-Word Use

Alannah Keyser has been removed from Love Island USA Season 8, two episodes later, over her usage of a racial slur publicly. She is a student at USC School of Cinematic Arts and entered the show as a bombshell during night 1 of Casa Amor. This exit comes after another contestant, Vasana Montgomery, was ousted due to a similar reason before her.

Peacock confirmed that they have fired Keyser after her videos using the N-word surfaced on social media. These videos may not have come to the streamer’s notice during the vetting process, given that the clips were posted on a private account. They didn’t come into public notice until her appearance on the reality show.

Apart from the clip, the racial slur was reportedly also used in a Snapchat message and a comment. The backlash sparked after the video and screenshot went public, following her debut in Love Island USA Season 8. She entered on Day 16 and was removed on Day 18 due to the controversy.

Despite being let go earlier, Keyser did make an appearance in the first 20 minutes of the Thursday episode. In it, her scenes were mainly with partner Zach Georgiou. She was also a part of two non-verbal scenes before the narrator, Iain Stirling, announced that Keyser had “left Casa Mor.”

A source close to the production told The US Sun that fans’ outrage over Keyser’s usage of a slur was heard by the makers, and they immediately made sure to reduce her screentime in pre-taped episodes as much as they could before announcing her exit.

“Producers edited Alannah out as much as possible from episodes that were pre-taped before the resurfaced racial slur video was exposed,” the source said. They further added, “She couldn’t be removed completely, but her scenes were significantly trimmed down in Tuesday’s episode.”
