We’ve ranked Paramount Pictures’ Jackass movies, not including the reality comedy franchise’s spin-offs and compilation films. The rankings are based on each installment’s Metascore on Metacritic. This comes ahead of the June 26 release of Jackass: Best and Last, which is also featured on this list. At the moment, the first four installments have a combined gross of over $559 million worldwide.
Jackass movies ranked by Metacritic score
5) Jackass: The Movie (2002)
2002’s Jackass: The Movie is currently the hit franchise’s lowest-rated installment on Metacritic. It has a 42% Metascore, based on 14 critic reviews. When the film debuted in 2002, critics didn’t respond very well to its unstructured format. Some were not even considering it as a “real” movie because of its lack of plot and narrative storytelling. In addition, many traditional critics were turned off by the film’s outrageous and dangerous stunts. Meanwhile, several reviewers admitted that they’ve enjoyed watching the first installment’s slapstick comedy and the Johnny Knoxville-led cast’s infectious energy.
4) Jackass 3-D (2010)
Taking the fourth spot is 2010’s Jackass 3-D, which received a 56% Metascore on Metacritic. Several critics were impressed by the ensemble cast’s performance and dedication to each dumb stunt for the sake of the entertainment. Meanwhile, many critics believed that the film’s 3D gimmick was unnecessary because it didn’t really add any cinematic value to the movie’s stunts. Despite the mixed reception from critics, the 2010 movie was generally favored by the audience, who gave it a 7.1/10 user score.
3) Jackass: Best and Last (2026)
Ranking third is the upcoming Jackass: Best and Last movie, which serves as the franchise’s final installment. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Knoxville and his gang of professional adrenaline junkies are reunited for one last adventure full of crazy new stunts and hilarious pranks. So far, the movie has received a generally favorable 61% rating on Metacritic. Many critics praised it as the perfect encore to the beloved franchise, with some even finding it oddly endearing because of the chemistry and lifelong friendship among the core cast. Meanwhile, other reviewers criticized the creative team’s decision to allot a portion of the runtime to nostalgia.
2) Jackass: Number Two (2006)
Claiming the second spot is 2006’s Jackass: Number Two, which was considered a huge upgrade from the first installment. It was the first installment to receive generally favorable reviews from critics on Metacritic. The film currently holds a 66% Metascore and a 7.2/10 user score. Unlike the 2002 movie, many critics have now become more understanding of the sequel’s chaotic nature. It was praised for its commitment to extreme comedy, describing the cast as masters of the slapstick gag.
1) Jackass Forever (2022)
2022’s Jackass Forever is currently the R-rated franchise’s highest-rated installment on Metacritic. It has a 74% Metascore and a 6.7/10 user score. Most critics were impressed by the film’s nostalgic charm and its surprisingly emotional element. Although some noted that it had weaker stunts compared to the previous installments, this was gladly overlooked by the audience because it allowed the film to highlight the aging cast’s brotherhood and rare vulnerability.
