The upcoming Ghostbusters TV show gets its first official look and tone revealed. Netflix has also released a new logline and concept art for the animated series as part of its 2026 animation slate.
What do we see in the first look at the Ghostbusters TV show?
Unlike the franchise’s traditional aesthetic, the new look of Netflix’s upcoming Ghostbusters: Night Shift teases a bold departure for the series. It was revealed, among other upcoming animated projects, by Netflix at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival stage.
The first look image of the new animated series doesn’t show the original Ghostbusters team or the usual ghost encounters they are known for. Instead, there appears to be a giant, fiery ghost with a hostage in its claw-like hands, and a lone Ghostbuster fighting it with traditional gear.
Beside the aforementioned first-look image, Netflix also revealed the official log-line for the series, “New York City, 1994 — Five years after the Ghostbusters took the Statue of Liberty for a walk, a new wave of supernatural terror hits the Big Apple, forcing a group of scrappy, young New Yorkers — untrained, underappreciated, and kinda sorta responsible for the problem — to put on proton packs, face their fears, and bust some ghosts.”

Netflix also revealed concept art for the Ghostbusters: Night Shift series. In it, the Ghostbusters team can be seen walking under the setting New York sun with their ghost-hunting gear.
The show is in collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation and Ghost Corps, and was animated by Flying Bark Productions, known for their works on Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Stranger Things: Tales from ’85.
The main team includes Ben Hibbon and Elliott Kalan as the showrunners alongside the original co-creator, Dan Aykroyd, and executive producer Amie Karp. The executive directors are Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan, also known for directing Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, respectively.
Ghostbusters: Night Shift will release on Netflix in 2027.
