‘Bulls—’: New Doc Trailer Challenges Leonardo DiCaprio’s The Wolf of Wall Street

A new docuseries about Jordan Belfort claims that much of The Wolf of Wall Street, in which Leonardo DiCaprio played him, was “bulls—.” The three-part docuseries will delve into the real events of the former stockbroker’s infamous life and his company.

Paramount Pictures has once again taken an interest in telling Jordan Belfort’s story. 13 years ago, the studio co-produced Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street, with Leonardo DiCaprio portraying the former stockbroker. Now, Paramount is taking a documentary approach with The Real Wolf of Wall Street, aiming to reveal the “true story” of his rise and fall.

The documentary is a Paramount Original and will premiere on Paramount+ on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. All three episodes will be available to stream on the same day.

The Real Wolf of Wall Street trailer features clips of Belfort’s early life and interviews with what appear to be former associates from his Stratton Oakmont firm, as well as a few others. Using unseen footage, FBI records, old interviews, and comments from Belfort’s former wife, Nadine, the documentary explores his rapid rise to wealth and the fraud that led to his downfall.

The trailer further reveals that the real events were even more shocking than portrayed in the movie. One of the people in the trailer even claims that much of the movie was “bulls—.” Another person said that the movie “doesn’t even accurately portray the level of insanity that occurred.”

The Real Wolf of Wall Street is made by See It Now Studios, Maxine Productions, and Bloomberg. Jesse Sweet serves as the showrunner.

Jordan Belfort ran Stratton Oakmont, a brokerage firm that engaged in illegal pump-and-dump stock schemes to inflate prices through false claims and then sell the shares for profit. He was later investigated by several departments and was convicted of securities fraud and money laundering. He received a reduced sentence in exchange for gathering information about his associates.

The Wolf of Wall Street, on the other hand, was based on Belfort’s eponymous memoir. Released in December 2013, it went on to make $407 million at the box office and received five Oscar nominations.
