The trailer for Apple TV‘s upcoming sports-comedy movie The Dink has been released. It features the Spider-Verse star Jake Johnson alongside Ben Stiller in a hilarious world of Pickleball.

What do we see in The Dink trailer?
The Dink trailer was released on Apple TV’s official YouTube channel on July 23, 2026. It’s a comedy film directed by Josh Greenbaum, with the script provided by Sean Clements. Ben Stiller, co-producer of Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (2004), produced the movie.
The Dink follows washed-up Tennis player Dusty Boyd, known as The Hammer, who, after suffering an injury, is reduced to coaching children at his father’s country club. His father, Chuck Boyd, played by Ed Harris, is against Pickleball, the new sport taking over his club. Dusty blindly supports the retaliation and is seen throwing away a Pickleball “in the garbage” in the trailer.
We are then introduced to Dr. Stone, played by Ben Stiller. He prescribes Dusty Pickleball, claiming it to be the “fastest road to tennis.” He then gives the sport a try, alongside his partner, Candace, played by Mary Steenburgen. Ultimately, Dusty enjoys the sport and is torn between the two worlds, his father’s approval and an identity crisis.
To prepare for the role as a complete beginner, Jake Johnson took lessons in both Tennis and Pickleball. In an interview with Pickleball.com, he stated that he initially picked up the film without giving it much thought. But during his training, the actor gained an appreciation for Pickleball. He further stated, “Our director, Josh Greenbaum, wanted to make it a real sports movie, so the pickleball is represented. We shot the hell out of the pickleball stuff, and it looks good.”
This underdog sports-comedy movie will begin streaming on July 24, 2026, on Apple TV. Besides the main cast, the movie also features Patton Oswalt, Christine Taylor, Chloe Fineman, Lynne Marie, Martin Kove, and the former American tennis player Andy Roddick.
