The Big Bang Theory Spin-off TV Show Trailer Unleashes Multiversal Chaos on HBO Max

HBO Max has released the official trailer for Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. The newest spin-off of The Big Bang Theory franchise is scheduled to premiere on July 23 on HBO Max. New episodes will debut every Thursday.

“Comic book store owner Stuart Bloom is tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon. Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise, geologist friend Bert, and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke. Along the way, they meet alternate-universe versions of characters we’ve come to know and love from The Big Bang Theory. As the title implies, things don’t go well,” reads the official logline.

What do we see in the trailer for the new Big Bang Theory spin-off TV show?

The video features the hilarious return of Kevin Sussman as Stuart, who finds himself facing a multiversal dilemma. Somehow, he becomes the unexpected “chosen one” who’s the only one that can save the world from the apocalypse. Also joining his multiversal journey are returning cast members Lauren Lapkus as Denise, Brian Posehn as Bert, and John Ross Bowie as Kripke. The trailer teases the ridiculous situations that they’ll find themselves in, including getting stuck in a Matrix-like reality.

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe is written, created, and executive-produced by Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady, with Kyle Newacheck serving as an executive producer and director. It hails from Warner Bros. Television. This comes after the success of The Big Bang Theory spin-offs, Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. The latter has already been renewed for a third season at CBS.

The original sitcom was one of the longest-running multi-camera CBS shows, lasting for 12 seasons from 2007 to 2019. It starred Jim Parsons as Sheldon, Johnny Galecki as Leonard, Kaley Cuoco as Penny, Simon Helberg as Howard, Kunal Nayyar as Raj, Mayim Bialik as Amy, and Melissa Rauch as Bernadette. During its run, the show won multiple Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor for Parsons’ memorable performance.
