Beloved Tim Burton Movie Finally Gets 4K Release Date 30 Years Later

A beloved sci-fi Tim Burton movie is finally getting a 4K release after three decades. This upgrade will let audiences experience Tim Burton’s sci-fi film with clearer visuals and more clarity.

What Tim Burton movie is finally getting a 4K release?

Tim Burton’s Mars Attacks! will hit its 30th anniversary in 2026. The movie made its theatrical debut in 1996. To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Warner Bros announced that Mars Attacks! 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray discs can be purchased online or at major retailers in-store from August 11.

Additionally, the film will also be digitally available for purchase on streaming platforms, including Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play, and Fandango at Home. With the Ultra HD 4K features, viewers can enjoy a wider and more lifelike color spectrum.

The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc will also contain new features like ‘Looking Back on Mars Attacks!’ and ‘Ack! Ack! Aesthetic’.

‘Looking Back on Mars Attacks!’ will follow commentaries by filmmakers who worked with Tim Burton on “one of the wackiest 90s alien invasion films”. While ‘Ack! Ack! Aesthetic’ takes a closer look at the distinctive creative style used to make Mars Attacks! and the then-cutting-edge CGI technology that shaped the movie’s overall look.

This Tim Burton movie combines its sci-fi themes with satire and dark comedy, associated with most of his films. The movie features Jack Nicholson, Annette Bening, Glenn Close, Danny DeVito, Michael J. Fox, Pierce Brosnan, and more.

Mars Attacks! is one of Burton’s cult classics, inspired by the trading card game of the same name. The movie focuses on Martian spacecraft that hover over major cities across the globe. The world leaders, including the U.S. President James Dale played by Jack Nicholson, initially assume that the Martians come in Peace. However, things unfold as the ulterior motives of the alien invasion are revealed.
