Jennifer Garner took to Instagram to share a Father’s Day post with her dad, William Garner, and ex Ben Affleck. She shared a carousel of photos, including an unseen one of Affleck holding their son, Samuel. However, it’s the Gone Girl star dressing up as Batman that has caught fans’ attention. This is because they are seeing him in this costume after years.

Affleck first appeared as the superhero in 2016, in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In the same year, he had a cameo role in Suicide Squad. Further, he reprised the role in 2017 in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The 2021 director’s cut of the film featured a new scene with Affleck. Affleck’s final appearance as Batman was a cameo in the 2023 film Flash.

In 2025, Affleck opened up about what went wrong with his version as Batman in Snyder’s DC universe. “There are a number of reasons why that was a really excruciating experience,” he told GQ. The two-time Oscar winner continued, “And they don’t all have to do with the simple dynamic of, say, being in a superhero movie or whatever. I am not interested in going down that particular genre again, not because of that bad experience, but just: I’ve lost interest in what was of interest about it to me.”

Affleck added, “What happened was it started to skew too old for a big part of the audience. Like even my own son at the time was too scared to watch the movie. And so when I saw that I was like, ‘Oh shit, we have a problem.'” He concluded, “Then I think that’s when you had a filmmaker that wanted to continue down that road and a studio that wanted to recapture all the younger audience at cross purposes. Then you have two entities, two people really wanting to do something different and that is a really bad recipe.”
