What do we see in the Klara and the Sun trailer?
The trailer starts by introducing Klara as an “Artificial Friend”, a robot sold to families for providing companionship and comfort. Artificial Friends have the “intelligence of a toddler” when starting, slowly picking up new skills and developing better emotional functions with their human companions.
The second half of the trailer takes on a more sinister tone, teasing that the family who adopted her harbors dark secrets. Klara is shown to be deeply curious about the Sun and its origins, and in one striking moment, she leaves Josie’s house in search of it. The journey takes her to the city, in hopes of finding the “way to heal this family”.

Following its first look reveal, Waititi called it his most dramatic film. The film marks the first feature from the director since 2023’s Next Goal Wins. The film stars Jenna Ortega, Amy Adams, Mia Tharia, Aran Murphy, Steve Buscemi, and Natasha Lyonne.
Klara and the Sun is directed by Waititi, based on a screenplay co-written with Dahvi Waller. It’s produced by Waititi, David Heyman, and Garrett Basch. The film is executive produced by Gary Barber, Alex G. Scott, Jeffrey Clifford, Rosie Alison, and Kazuo Ishiguro.
