Ricky Gervais‘ R-rated Netflix TV show Alley Cats‘ first trailer is out. The new project is an adult-animated comedy series from the Emmy and BAFTA-award-winning creator and comedian.
According to the official synopsis for Alley Cats, it’s “an adult animated sitcom created by and starring the multi award-winning Ricky Gervais. The series follows the trials and tribulations of a group of feral British cats from all walks of society, who seek companionship while ruminating on everyday life. From the funny to the absurd, the series is packed with Gervais’ signature style of heart and social commentary that audiences have come to expect.”

What do we see in the Alley Cats trailer?
The Alley Cats trailer shows the trials and tribulations of a group featuring feral British cats as they seek companionship while pondering the struggles of daily life. The entire series is made in a bold 2D animation style.
The star-studded voice cast of Alley Cats features Ricky Gervais alongside other notable names, including Tom Basden, Andrew Brooke, David Earl, Kerry Godliman, Jo Hartley, and Diane Morgan. Natalie Cassidy and Tony Way are also playing key characters in the series.

Gervais, the creator, writer, and director of Alley Cats, expressed his happiness over the show before the trailer’s online reveal. “I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about a trailer. I can’t wait for everyone to get to know these cats.” Elliot Dear is serving as the co-director on the series.
The show’s executive producers include Gervais himself alongside Steven Hamilton Shaw. James Stevenson Bretton and Ben Lole are also executive producing. Hugo Donkin is the producer, while Tang Heng is the production designer.
The R-rated Alley Cats adult animated TV series will release on Netflix on August 7, 2026.
