House of the Dragon just dropped a trailer that confirms one fan-favorite character’s survival while teasing Rhaenyra’s darkest turn yet. The Season 3 “Weeks Ahead” trailer reveals key fates and battle lines after the devastating Battle of the Gullet premiere.
House of the Dragon Season 3 gets new trailer showing what’s next
HBO Max dropped the Season 3 “Weeks Ahead” trailer for House of the Dragon on June 22, 2026. The trailer teases intense conflicts ahead as Rhaenyra Targaryen declares, “What crumbs of it may be snatched, I will devour.” Meanwhile, Aegon II vows to hunt down his enemies, stating, “I swear, I’m going to find him and f—ing kill him.”
The trailer arrives on the same day as the Season 3 premiere, which adapts the Battle of the Gullet. This massive naval battle resulted in the death of Prince Jacaerys Velaryon and his dragon Vermax. The premiere also introduced Tommy Flanagan as Roddy the Ruin alongside the arrival of the Starks.
Meanwhile, the Season 3 premiere left Lord Corlys Velaryon’s fate uncertain after the devastating naval battle. The Sea Snake engaged in brutal combat aboard his ship against the Triarchy forces during the Gullet. The trailer appears to show Seasmoke in flight, suggesting Addam Velaryon may play a role in Corlys’s rescue. His survival remains one of the biggest unresolved questions heading into Episode 2.
Beyond the Sea Snake’s fate, several key storylines emerge from the trailer’s footage. Daemon Targaryen tells Rhaenyra, “This is the moment you become queen,” adding, “The patient hunter gets the kill.” Alicent Hightower warns that “the crown is a weight that crushes” while predicting Rhaenyra will face dire choices ahead.
Additionally, the trailer hints at growing resistance to Rhaenyra’s rule in King’s Landing. An unidentified speaker tells her directly, “You can burn us, you can kill us, you will never make us embrace her.” Rhaenyra responds defiantly by asserting, “I wear my father’s crown; my enemies will not deny me my right.”
Ormund Hightower also features prominently as a new antagonist this season. He dismisses Rhaenyra as “weak and unsuited to rule” while declaring his purpose to restore the Greens’ claim. James Norton portrays the character, who leads the Hightower armies toward the conflict.
House of the Dragon Season 3 follows a weekly release schedule on HBO and HBO Max. Episode 2 premieres on Sunday, June 28, at 9:00 p.m. ET. The season contains eight episodes total, continuing every Sunday through the summer.
