Netflix expands its library with the addition of one of Lionsgate’s R-rated crime thriller movies, starring Tony Award nominee Luke Evans. Starting today, the 2024 film 5lbs of Pressure is finally available to stream on Netflix.

What do we know about Luke Evans’ 5lbs of Pressure movie?

5lbs of Pressure was written and directed by Phil Allocco. In the movie, Evans played a paroled ex-convict who’s looking to turn his life around, starting with reconnecting with his estranged son. The ensemble cast also included Rory Culkin as Mike, Zac Adams as Eli, Rudy Pankow as Jimmy, Stephanie Leonidas as Donna, Savannah Steyn as Lori, Lorraine Burroughs as Jamal, and Alex Pettyfer as Leff. “In this gripping action-thriller, Adam, an ex-con back in his old neighborhood after serving 16 years for murder, walks a rocky path of forgiveness toward the son who grew up without him, while the bitter, volatile brother of the youth he killed looms in the background,” reads the official synopsis. “Meanwhile, Mike, sick of doing the bidding of his drug-dealing uncle, is desperate to leave his sordid life behind. When Adam and Mike’s paths converge, inescapable destiny will give way to violence… and a final, fleeting shot at redemption.”

The movie was produced by Dominic Burns, Marc Danon, Roy Scott MacFarland, Isen Robbins, Aimee Schoof, Zac Adams, Phil Allocco, Crawford Anderson-Dillon, and Ford Corbett. The creative team also consisted of cinematographer Sara Deane, composer Philippe Jakko, and editor Seth Anderson.
