The new Prison Break series may not leave the original show’s legacy completely behind. A known actor says fans could see familiar faces when the Hulu reboot arrives. Production on the upcoming series is already underway, and he recently shared a few details about what viewers can expect.
Which original Prison Break stars could return for the reboot
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Lukas Gage revealed that the new series exists in the same universe as the original Prison Break. Although the story focuses on a different group of characters, he hinted that some familiar faces could appear along the way. “We might see a couple of OGs coming back,” Gage said, fueling speculation among longtime fans.
The original series aired on Fox from 2005 to 2009 before returning for a revival season in 2017. It centered on brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows, played by Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell. Neither actor has been confirmed for the reboot, but Gage’s comments have already led long-time fans to wonder whether one or both could make an appearance.
Unlike the network television version, the Hulu project will have more freedom in terms of tone and content. Gage explained that the move from Fox to Hulu allows the creative team to push things further.
“We can get really gritty and get really dark. It’s gonna be crazy, it’s gonna be a wild ride,” he said. Thus, there’s a fair chance that the reboot may take a harsher and more mature approach than earlier seasons.
The new cast features Gage, Emily Browning, Drake Rodger, Clayton Cardenas, JR Bourne, Georgie Flores, and Myles Bullock. Gage also couldn’t hide his excitement about the supporting lineup, especially veteran actress Margo Martindale. “I’m working with Margo Martindale right now, and that’s like a character actor dream world,” he said.
While plot details remain largely under wraps, Hulu’s reboot will be honoring the original while building something new. That could be one of the show’s biggest strengths.
