Doug Cockle, who voices Geralt in CD Projekt Red’s Witcher video games, recently shared his thoughts on Liam Hemsworth replacing Henry Cavill as the character in the Netflix series. Cockle said in a recent interview that Hemsworth not only matched Cavill’s performance but actually surpassed him in one way.

The veteran voice actor kicked off the discussion by commending Liam Hemsworth for taking on the role of Geralt of Rivia mid-series.
“It’s tough to do what [Hemsworth] did,” Cockle told Polygon. “Really, really tough, especially with a character in a show that so many people adore. To be the actor replacing someone else who originated a character in the same series is so difficult.”
He then highlighted the difference between Henry Cavill and Liam Hemsworth’s portrayals of the character, stating that each actor excelled in the role in their own way. “I find that Henry’s performance has a little bit more weight to it, and Liam’s is a little bit more energized and actually kind of youthful, but in a fun way,” Cockle remarked, before crediting both actors for “being awesome Witchers.”
Notably, Henry Cavill played the leading role of Geralt for the first three seasons of the Netflix series. However, creative differences ultimately prompted the streaming giant to replace Cavill with Liam Hemsworth in the show. The Australian star made his debut as Geralt in Season 4 and will reprise his role in the upcoming fifth season of the series.
When asked if he would like to portray the charismatic monster hunter in live-action, Cockle said, “At this point, any opportunity to step back into those lovely boots is a welcome opportunity. [Geralt is] such a special part of my career and part of my life. It’s just such a joy to revisit him whenever I get the chance to do it.”
